UpStreet - Our Environment for Elementary Kids

UpStreet is a Sunday morning environment designed for elementary-aged kids (K – 5th grade) that meets every week at 9:30am. It includes an engaging large group gathering for singing and teaching from the Bible, followed by a more personal small group time with caring leaders and children their same age. The small group time allows children to build quality friendships. We want UpStreet to be the best hour of your child’s week. We work hard to help each child understand and embrace the following big ideas:

- I need to make the WISE choice.
- I can TRUST GOD no matter what.
- I should treat OTHERS the way I want to be treated.

God loves children and we do too! Family Ministry at Hillside welcomes your children of all ages. We focus on teaching your children about the truths of God when they are at church, and we equip you to help your kids learn more about God when they are home.

One way we equip parents is to provide a weekly resource called Refrigerator Note. This is a half-sheet of paper that you put on your home refrigerator and use the provided questions and activities to build on what the children were introduced to on Sunday. Most activities only take a few minutes and can be slipped into daily routines that happen in the kitchen, like meal preparation or snack times after school.

UpStreet is located to the left of the registration area in the lobby of the children’s wing.

Schedule:
UpStreet begins promptly at 9:30am each week with fun games and activities. We then move into a time of innovative music and prayer followed by a Bible Story. The switch from games to singing happens about 10-15 minutes into the hour. Because children arriving late not only hate walking late into the room but they have missed at least a portion of the foundation for everything that follows, check-In closes for children at 9:45am. If you arrive after check-in closes, please take your children with you to the main auditorium. A member of the host team will be able to provide your children with an activity booklet and crayons. For those who have children who are unable to sit quietly in the main auditorium, we invite you to sit with your child in the lobby where the sermons may be heard easily and children have more freedom of movement.

God Time and Refrigerator Note, our UpStreet child & parent resources come home with each child weekly and you may receive them in email form by request.

Please arrive a few minutes early to complete a short registration form and provide your personal cell phone number which we will use to notify you by text messaging or paging in the event your child needs you during their time with us on UpStreet.
