Fire Relief Needs

10/14/2017 Update:
Thank you again to all of you who have responded to these fires with donations, prayers, and service!

Since Monday Hillside has been on the Red Cross list of sites willing to bring in evacuees. Because we are further south than many other sites, we have not been asked to open our doors. Instead we are working to funnel our resources and volunteers to partner organizations. Below are several of those partnerships that can still use our help! We are also beginning to have conversations about the role we can play in the weeks and months ahead.

This Sunday we will have special worship services where we can come together to reflect, mourn, pray, listen to scripture, and hear updates of hope in the midst of tragedy. Please plan on joining us at 9:00am or 10:30am and bring some food for the food drive! Also, given the nature of the service please arrive early.

In all of this please continue to pray!

Thank You!
Steve Pridemore

Donations Needed

Bay Marin Church in San Rafael continues to do an outstanding job functioning as a distribution center for items in Marin and Sonoma. They have a current list of urgent needs and are sending supplies all over Marin, Sonoma, and Napa. Please see the current needs on their website. The list changes constantly so check it before you go.

Emergency Shelter at New Life in Petaluma

We continue to support the emergency shelter at New Life Church in Petaluma where over 100 evacuees are being housed. We have made supply deliveries and have had volunteers working there around the clock since Monday evening. Thanks to all of you who have been helping!

Food Drive at Hillside – This Sunday!

We are organizing a food drive to support the Redwood Empire Food Bank in Sonoma County. We sent one large load yesterday and will send more as we are able. The food bank is currently providing critical food to shelters for those displaced by fires. This is a need that is immediate but will continue into recovery in the months ahead.

According to the latest information we have from them they are “in dire need of ready-to-eat, non-perishable foods that we can provide to the evacuation centers immediately. These foods should be easy to open and easy to eat.”

If you would like to help please bring food drive items to Hillside this Sunday.

We encourage you to give directly to organizations responding to the fires. If you would like to give through Hillside we will be forwarding any contributions for fire relief to local organizations in the weeks and months ahead. You gan give to Hillside’s emergency response fund here.
