Global Outreach

Casa de la Esperanza, Tijuana, Mexico

Hillside has supported Casa for many years and our vision and purpose continues to be the same: to love and support the children and workers of that orphanage. We do that in several ways: Three times a year we go down to Tijuana to work in construction and to expend ourselves loving and playing with the children. The children are our first priority!

We do both of these because of what Jesus modeled for us and because the scriptures teach us to. One of the many verses that continues to fuel our energy can be found in James 1:27 “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” This is at the heart of our faith; to love God in such a way that we begin to love our neighbors as ourselves. Jesus taught us that if we live our lives abiding with Him it will produce change in us and we will live in such a way that we bless others and find the joyful life that he intended.

We would love for you to join us on one of our upcoming trips!

Children of Strength, Kilimambogo, Kenya

Hillside supports Watoto Wenye Nguvu, a mission to AIDS orphans and children at risk of violence and sexual abuse in a rural area of Kenya. The support organization here in the USA is Children of Strength.  www.childrenofstrength.org

While the AIDS epidemic and poverty are devastating and widespread in Africa, Watoto Wenye Nguvu, a Kenyan NGO, are making a difference through education, orphan care, feeding programs and lots of love.

Presently Watoto Wenye Nguvu (which means Children of Strength in Swahili) supports around 400 children in the Kilimambogo area of Kenya, approximately 60 miles north of Nairobi. Additionally the feeding program supports 5,300 children daily during the school year through nine different schools. All the support for the orphans comes from individual sponsorships of $30 per month.

Many Hillsiders sponsor children, most of whom live with responsible guardians in their home villages. Those orphans that are determined to be at risk are removed to the safe houses where they receive the attention and protection they need.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child call Steve Pridemore at 415.924.2297 x105 for information.
